What does the plank exercise benefit? By doing the plank, it helps strengthen the midsection, upper body and lower-body muscles along the front of your body. It also strengthens the inner core muscles that support your joints.
When doing the plank make sure to keep your torso straight and try to hold it for as long as you can. Try challenging yourself each time, the first few times aim for 30 seconds, then increase it to 1 minute, then 2 minutes, etc.
There are many variations to the plank. Place your forearms on the floor, or place your hands on the floor and keep your arms straight, balance on a medi ball, or lift one foot off the floor, rotating each leg. Whichever way you do it, you will be sure to feel it the burn.
BoxingFit offers a range of classes that incorporate plank combinations, as we know how important it is in boxing and in general wellbeing to have a strong core.
